The rules for inclusion
To make this list, a free tier must be: usable indefinitely (no countdown), not aggressively gated against your main use case, and not require a credit card to start. We dropped several tools that fail rule three.
Notion — workspace & wiki
Free for personal use forever. Free for a small team up to about 1,000 blocks. Genuinely usable.
HubSpot CRM — sales tracking
Free forever. Contact management, deal pipeline, email tracking, meeting scheduler. The free tier funds itself by upselling Marketing Hub later — you do not have to upgrade.
Figma — design
Free for up to 3 collaborators on unlimited files. Real free, not a trial. Dev Mode is paid but you may not need it.
Slack — team chat
Free with a 90-day message history cap. Fine for small teams or evaluating fit. Most teams upgrade for the searchable archive once they pass 10 people.
ClickUp — project management
Free forever with most features unlocked. Storage and certain advanced views are capped. Realistically the best free PM tool in 2026.
Brevo — email + transactional
Free up to 300 emails per day. Includes templates, automation, basic CRM, transactional API. The most generous free email tier on the market.
PostHog — product analytics
Free up to 1 million events per month. Includes session replay and feature flags — features you would normally pay $300+/mo for. Self-hostable if you want.
Plausible / Umami — site analytics
Plausible has a small paid tier but Umami is fully open-source and free if you self-host. Both are GDPR-safe alternatives to Google Analytics.
Caveats
Free tiers exist to convert you. Track the friction point you would hit on each tool — that is your real budget signal. Upgrading before you feel the friction is wasted spend.
